Well after several estimates and talking to many, the verdict is in. I am just going to pop it out myself (I used to do quite a bit of bodywork back in my musclecar days). If the paint had not of cracked I probably coud of done it to almost perfect standards. Wiyth 165,000 mi and rust creeping in on the fenders, rear passenger door and tailgate I can't see putting $$$$ cash into the one side. I have a $500.00 deductible.
If I can find a door-preferably in the same paint code-179, along the way, well that will be great. But I am not going to lose any sleep till then.
Actually, I kind of like the battle scar look on an older 4x4. I tend to get more aggressive off road (Silver Lake look out!) once the body work starts the downward spiral. This year has been absolutely the worst as far as salt on the road goes. It seems as if the salt trucks started running mid-November and just let up last week. The rust has really advanced on the 91 runner. Nothing, however, compared to my old 84 4runner rust mobile!
