It's so cold...
I got a kick out of this:
Coldest morning in five years -- but no record
Star Tribune
Published January 30, 2004 COLD31
So, how cold was it in the Twin Cities today?
It was so cold that the St. Paul Winter Carnival's Ice Palace -- the ICE PALACE, for crying out loud -- was closed this morning. It opened at noon, when temperatures were a comparatively balmy -15, instead of the usual 10 a.m.
The temperature in the Twin Cities dropped to 24 below zero this morning, continuing the streak of bitter cold that began on Tuesday, but falling short of the record for the date.
The reading was the coldest in the metro area since January 1999. But the record low for Jan. 30 was set in 1951, when the mercury dipped to 29 below. It was the second consecutive night the Twin Cities set a record that year.
In northeastern Minnesota, Embarrass dropped to 41 below, with Tower 38 at below, Littlefork at 36 below and Cook at 34 below. At 10:30 this morning, the temperature was still 22 below at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory for the Twin Cities and all of central and south central Minnesota and west central Wisconsin this morning. Frigid temperatures of 15 to 30 degrees below zero combined with northwest winds of around 10 miles per hour would create windchills in the 30- to 40-below-zero range, forecasters said.
Windchills at this level will cause frostbite on exposed skin in 30 minutes.
Looking ahead, winds are expected to subside this afternoon and evening, but then accumulating snow is expected -- 1 to 3 inches.
EDIT: Oops, I meant to post this on the off-topic section. Sorry.

Being from Minneapolis, I can tell you I don't miss this one bit. Those are some sick stats there and all to familiar.
Here in Charlotte, we had about a whopping 2 inches last weekend with a little ice and almost everyone in my dept worked from home for Monday and Tuesday. Gotta love it!
Bring on spring, I need to see what this 2nd Gen can do!
