Arrow ISR Mod problem

Okay so I just attempted to do the ISR mod the other day (following Dr. Z's excellent write up on how to actually do the mod) and my engine wouldn't turn over. I saw that there was an update about the mod for the 2002 model, since the intake design changed a bit, so a different "re-hosing" method was needed to connect up the unused vacuum lines. I was able to remove the line from the front of the plenum (the one that runs underneath from the FPR) and complete the loop [originally capped off vacuum port on top of plenum >>> through unused metal tubing on top of plenum >>> through another foot of hose down to the FPR] That's correct right?

I have a couple questions reguarding this - I have searched and found that other people with 2002's have been able to successfully complete this mod.

1. What is that capped off vacuum line on the top back right of the plenum? How exactly does re routing the vacuum line from the ISR to that previously blocked off line work?

2. This could be my main problem, and an obvious one, but I don't know why it would make a difference: after reconnecting the lines via the instructions, I didn't add in a tube to connect the void between the air box and the throttle body. Does this really make a difference? I don't have great access to friendly muffler shops as many other people have had - snobby business owners are very common around my area - so it's been hard to find the piping that I need. I have been to more than one muffler shop and they said they couldn't help me out, even though I have seen multiple people get a regular piece of exhaust tubing expanded and then were able to install. Is the lack of that connector pipe between the two pieces my real problem? I hope it is, because once I get the pipe to go between the two I'd really like to get this completed. Thanks in advance

The air tube(s) between the MAF and throttle body..MUST be completely sealed...I mean to say is: the pipe/tubes must be connected so that air can flow..from the MAF into the throttle body...without any outside air getting in or inside air getting out..
