Used the same tape on the maplight, incredsibly easy and fast. Matches the rest of the red and is the final night vision issue. I would not have bothered with all this redifying if I didn't have the gauges out for the swap anyway, at least the subsequent ones were really cheap and easy. Total cost $4 and time.

hey dajabar were those map lights stock on your truck or did you add them as part of your sr5ing of your ride...if they were add was the roof already wired for them or did you have to add the wiring too...I just added sr5 door panels with power everything from a two door 4runner to my hilux...had to make a custom harness to get accross the cab...but it all works great!

What's everyone's opinion on the best night vision color - red or blue?
In relation to all this guage swapping, a couple of quick questions:
what are reverse glow guages? simply where the numbers are illuminated?
I actually thought that was normal... what about these indiglo guages? or is that just an aftermarket thing?

Map light was an add on I did during my sunroof install, found it for $5. You have to get the mounting frame that bolts to the mirror base under the headliner or there's nothing to screw it into or ground the power. No stock wiring, ran primary down the drivers side a arm and installed an aux fuse block in the fuse kick panel, $4. I'm not SR5 ing everything, just the stuff with most utility for least work. EG....Swapped my gauges, added the maplight, but carpet just gets dirty and hard to clean, door pockets are tiny and to me the work for door power gadgets isn't worth it. Am going to have the shop I webmaster add some custom pockets to the front panels, and transplant SR5 pockets to the rear panels. Sunroof was really the only luxury thing I added.

I don't plan on changing my dome/map lights to amber, but I want to change my instrument cluster and other interior dash lighting to amber. Has anyone come out with Indiglo or Reverse Indiglo gauges that are amber? Does anyone know how these things are made? Is it a silk screening process on these "glo" sheets? The reason I ask is that if I did the cluster, I'd want to do the heater controls possibly also.
