Question Importing a truck?

Hello, first time poster long time Toyota owner.

I saw a link in another post that led to Toyota of Ecuador and they had some pretty cool trucks. That begged the question....is it possible to import trucks here from other countries and if so what countries would it be best to do it from in terms of modifications and money. I love to have any one of those Land Cruisers

It can be a big deal. All vehicles permanently imported have to meet US standard for DHTSA, emissions, etc. More often than not a foreign vehicle was built with an engine or body that can't be easily modified to meet these standards. I looked all this up once to import a Landcruiser from Senegal but it was such bad news I didn't keep the info. Check out Brian 89's foreign toyota page, he might have some deets.
