IFS (clamshell) regear question)

I was under my truck doing an oil change tonight and I noticed special headed bolts connecting the "axle tube" to the clamshell on the IFS. They look like a splined head. Anyone know where to get the right socket to fit on this? I will be regearing soon and I assume I will need to get these suckers out...Thanks

BTW here is a video of me havin a little fun with my truck this weekend in N. Arizona. Bad camera angle, but you get the idea

If you dont have the right socket, usually a 12pt socket will get them out. Just know what you are doing and dont round them off. They arent in there all that tightly, so it usually isnt a big deal.

You can probably buy a single metric external torx socket from Sears.

I will look around at sears for the right socket, then probably just get them out and replace them with regular hex head bolts. Thanks for your help!

I will get the CD with the pics on it today or tommorow so you guys can laugh at them.

I'm switching my bolts out too, just picked some up today at the fastener store.

They are m12x1.25 (fine threaded). you'll prolly have to go to a fastener store to get them, all the other places i went either didn't have fine thread or the bolts were too long.

The bolts i ended up with were tad longer than needed, so got some washers with em.

When I had to get them out I just bought a cheap set at harbor freight and it did the job. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=5931
