ID'ing a 3.4
I have a 3.4L and everything for a swap in a wierd CL trade. Anyways, I'm told it's from a '96, but is there any way/numbers I could verify that on the motor or other parts? Thanks

Hard to tell, from what you mean, finding out what yr model. Hope is that the seller has the VIN for you or you are able to check the donor truck in person yourself and look at other labels like the engine underhood label or door jam info, where they list the year of manufacture completion, assuming all original major parts during its previous life.

It would be difficult to determine without VIN, most motors have a VIN on them but many where just stickers, in the USDM they where the same until late 98' with differences like injectors, MAF and associated wiring, throughout 96-02' there are ECU differences between Limited and SR5 some of which got the Immobilizer but I think that wasn't introduced until late 98' but I could be wrong for USDM, I understand USDM was also installing its own type of security alarm at the port apparently? Canada did not part take in that, the immobilizer would be your biggest concern IMO. Did it come with the ECU, this would narrow it down by part#, is it built for USDM or was it a JDM-> does the manifold crossover go over the bell housing (USDM) or under the bell housing (JDM). I would assume with all the Taco 5vz-Fe's getting crushed there are plenty of Taco variances aswell, non of which I am familiar with since they ran from 95.5-2004, did you get the ECU with it?.
