Thanks for posting the pic!
Hey in your instructions you said its all in the prep. I still forgot the valve stem .. but it got painted black so its all good now.
Yup I'm looking into getting a street queen and that is the brochure I got from Lexus for the new GX suv. It worked really well.

too much work. I thought about taking the tires off the rim, and I found a guy that would have done it for $2/tire. Then just take it back in to justtires, for my lifetime balance. But I didn't have the timeto drive back and forth, much less a way of getting the wheels to him to remove/mount the tires.
This is probably the only time these rims are going to lok pretty after this, I'm just going to be touching up with black spray paint if it gets scratched.

ok 2 rims are done and back on the rig. It looks like a tank. Everyone with a dark colored truck and these rims should be doing this mod.
The other two rims have been primed, and waiting to dry for the second coat of primer. Its 80+ out today .. so their drying pretty quick.
I actually came up with a better way to cover the tires then newspaper. I used like a surgical drape. Basically take a trash bag cut it open along one side, and lay it over the tire. Then just cut out the rim part, and your done. Cut down prep time by 60%.

Also I don't think I'm going to paint the lug nuts. Their going to get messed up every time it gets rotated, or has to be removed. So I'm just going to go pick up some black ones from advanced auto. Anything I should look for? I know the ones for alloy wheels. But anything else?
Also I got a crazy idea. I was thinking I might paint the center caps red. To go with the red and black theme on the truck. What do you guys think? Or should I just keep it all back?

Don't paint the whole thing red, but a red emblem would look cool!

I did the the "T" red on mine and it adds a nice touch even if only a few people notice it.
I did my mom's '99 Limited's center cap "T"s in gold to match the badges while she was on a business trip and I told her two months later so she would notice.
She did like 'em but she thinks I'm too much of a car nerd.

I actually repainted the center cap silver let them dry completely then I took an eye dropper and sucked up some enamel paint and "filled" the T then let it set a few minutes then wiped the excess dribbles/drops with paint thinner (lightly so as not too rough up the silver) ,then top with a few coats of clearcoat and then let it dry for a few days and now it almost looks factory and real glossy.

Nice ideas. But were here to keep it simple.
They've been primed. But I think I'm just going to go with all black. I figure since when I get manual hubs the front ones come out any way. So I think I will just keep the back ones black. I like the silver idea though, I might go back and fill in the toyota symbol with silver. thanks
Update: One rim has the second coat of black, the other one its first coat. should be done in another two hours or so.
