Guys, I changed the oil in my 5 speed today and use Mobil 1 Syntheic. I have a 2.4L 2wd and the manual called for 2.7 qts of dope.

I measured it out EXACTLY, but due to the fill hole being hard to get at, I spilled a little here and their along the way. I tried to add the amount I thought I spilled at the end.

Is it a big deal if its a little + or - 2.7 qts? Is their a procedure to check the fluid through the fill hole?

Its shifting fine and their are no noises.

Just wanted to check.

 

You are suppose to fill it up until it starts to come out of the fill hole, which should be roughly whatever the manual says (but not always exactly). The way you check the oil level through the fill hole is by sticking your finger inside and seeing if the oil is right up close to the fill hole.

 

Yup, that's the best bet. Just put some more in till it just starts coming out the fill hole and you'll be fine.

 

Good, it started doing that a little as I finished the last quart off. I'll check it again tommorrow.
