i bought a 4runner

Well i had a 1998 tacoma xtra cab limited but with a second child on the way, it wont cut it any more. So i saw a 4runner sitting behind a local ford lot and decided to try and buy it. Turns out it was a trade in and they were getting ready to send it to wholesale/ auction the day i decided to try and buy it. Its a 1996 4runner limited with factory rear e locker. It has 128xxx miles on it and is great shape. The interior looks new (even better than my 98 tacoma with 86xxx miles and its in great shape). At first they said they couldnt sell it and tried selling me some fords, and i told them i dont even care how good of deal you will make me i dont want a ford unless youll sell me a super duty with a powerstroke for 10K. So me and the salesman go inside and go through a couple hours of calling and paperwork. They finally find someone who would finance a 96 with "high" miles(i had no clue what theyd be $ asking at this point). I go into the finance office and they give me a piece of paper saying they will pay off my truck(8500) plus give me 2500 and sell me the 4runner for 10600. I said no way and offered them 7000. They called the owner of the lot which is my dads neighbor and the owner said since hes my neighbor go ahead and do it. So out i went with my 4runner and had my dad drive the tacoma back to my place. Spent all day there but turned out to be worth it. Now i just need to sell the tacoma.

Well welcome to YT. I did the exact same thing for child car seat reasons selling my hooked up 99 TRD Taco and getting a 4Runner. I really like my ultimate grocery getter. Lifts I think are way easier and less hastle than the leafs on Tacos.

This is the new Runner (before mods) the same day I also sold the Taco that is in the back ground.

Post some pics of that new Runner of yours!

Thats funny cause right before I had my Runner I also had a 98' TRD x-tra cab Teco and loved it to. The runner is great though and for all intesive pruposes probabl an all around better (yet always cheaper...) truck IMO.

Im sure you will love it!

PS- cept both mine were sr5, 5sps as i can't go any other way!

just wondering what you ended up getting for the truck, sounds like you got a great deal to begin with.
