HVAC controls

My heater and fan knobs keep falling off! This is ridiculous! This is just pure crappiness, the likes of which I would expect from a Daewoo or a Kia car, not a Toyota truck. Every time I touch one of the knobs it fall off! When I'm wheeling they fall off. When I have someone in the car, they fall off...this is embarrassing...Does anybody else have this problem? Can I/Should I fix it with some epoxy? Is there any foreseeable reason why I may want, in the future, to remove these knobs intentionally?

Wow, I never heard of that, at least not in a 'Yota. Try silicone RTV on the shaft. It should be strong enough to hold the knob over time yet easy enough to pull apart if you DO need to remove them. Remember, a dab will do ya'...

Did they do this since new? Or did you pull them off at some point and damage the little retainer thingies?...

I bought a set from someone on here I think it was and 3 of the 4 wouldn't hold - they were damaged when they were removed was my guess. (luckily I "found" some replacements - go test drive a used one and swap knobs with it...) KIDDING! (maybe..)

yeah, either 'liberate' a set on a test drive or hunt some down at a junkyard. I suppose I should put a dab of RTV on 'em as recommended. Whatever the case, I gots ta fix the situation. Thanks guys.

there is a small metal ring on the inside of the knob that goes where the thing attachs to the truck, i bet you lost those when you took them off at some point, so ethier glue or switching the knobs, but check for those metal things before switching them out
