humidity and TPS

Hi

I have problem with my 1991 4runner 22re .When it's rain or very humid, i lost power under 3200rpm.

I put the pedal on the floor and no power before it's reach 300-3500 rpm.

Cap,wire,plugs,rotor was new.

I was thinking about the Throttle position sensor, maybe humidity go in .

(sorry for my bad english)

any cue will be very appreciate

Wonderful forum ,very very useful.

thanks a lot

I mean no power under 3000-3500rpm

and the idle is very low.approx 400 rpm.

Do that just when it's rain.

any idea??

Are you saying that your truck idles at 400rpm only when it rains. What does it idle at when its not raining?
And you have no power until you hit 3500rpm, again only when it rains?

Yep

You're right only when is rain

normal idle when the engine it's hot(and no rain) is 900-1000rpm.

The truck goes very well when it's not humid

thanks

I have never heard of this problem, and am not familiar with the 22re, but I would change the air filter, clean out your throttle body, and next time it happens, check to see where the moisture is getting in. You may have a crack in your distributer case or body even though the case was recently changed. Wish I could help more. Good luck.

Good idea, i forgot to inspect the air filter when i buy the truck.

Lot of snow goes under the hood surely it's doesn't help.
(it's fall 98cm of snow in three days here)

maybe a skid plate can be helpful but need to find the problem first.

anyways ,i will try that

thanks a lot Paul

I don't think that the humidity would affect the TPS. All the TPS does is tell the computer what the throttle position is.

I think that you should try cleaning your throttle body. Make sure you oil the butterfly when you are done so that it moves freely and smoothly. 3 in 1 works great for this. I actually just re-oiled mine today.

I've noticed that my 4runner idles lower when the humidity is higher. Usually it's only a difference of about 100 rpms, give or take a little.

The air filter also sounds like a good idea too.

Wow, about 3 feet in 3 days. That really is a lot of snow. Where are you located at if you don't mind me asking? We rarely get snow here and when we do it's usually just a few flakes. The high tomorrow is 65 degrees F. Sounds like another T-shirt day.
