How t o operate remote starter on 3rd gen.

Just bought a 98 limited for my wife. What a difference between it and her 2nd gen. Anyway my question is with the remote starter. The car has a remote which has 3 buttons; red, black, and green. The green one is supposed to start the car, but I don't know how it works. I got all the paper work/books with this car. There is nothing in any of it that even shows the remote (which has the letters TDS on it). The previous owner said the remote came with the car when she bought it new. The engine bay also has a sticker that says Warning , Remote Sarter....... Was this something that maybe the dealer installed? The car also has an alarm that doesn't look like the one in the owners manual. There is a small red light/push button switch in one of the knockout panels to the left of the steering wheel. What do I have here?
Thanks for the help, Chris

That definitely sounds like something aftermarket. Can you find the siren or brain of the alarm? If you can, it will probably have a label of some sort on it.

I didn't think that remote start was an option in 98', correct me if I'm wrong here guys. I think it's after market in some manner, either dealer installed or owner installed. It seems that you have something like my system. I have the same sticker and warning lable, I also have the same type of button/light that lets me know when the alarm is armed. I dunno what else to tell ya, I don't know enough to say one way or the other what you have.

I hope this helps....a TDS remote is just a replacement remote. This link probably shows the remote that you have right now (probably). Check out the home page of the link that features the actual 'brain' of these remotes. I am still trying to do a search for manuals on-line

Hey...i have a '98 with the dealer installed alarm. In 1998, there was no factory alarm system. At that time Toyota dealers used the SecuriKey+. I have the same flashing LED light that you are talking about. The green button on the remote can be programmed to do several things. Mine just truns on my headlights. For some additional money, you can get the remote start package(which you may have). I couldn't really tell you how to work it, but i have thought about getting it for mine. I think its like $100, and the car is allready wired for it.
