how to replace glove box light bulb

Wanted to replace the globe box light bulb (old one burned out) but could not figure out how.

There is a grille that protects the light assembly. I used a flathead screwdriver but failed to pop it out (did not force it as I was afraid to break the grille).

Any clue?

its on a hinge. the bulb just pulls straight out once you open the "grille".

i have taken the whole grill assembly completely out (just disconnect the harness). then you'll have access to the bulb... therein lies the tricky part. you'll have to find someone with crazy small fingers with a super strong pinch to get the bulb out (i haven't tracked said person down yet...) the bulb looks to be about the size of a 2AA mini-maglite bulb, but is definitely automotive by design.

old thread but I thought I'd post in the off chance it helps someone. Here's how I get the bulb out of the grille:

1. wrap one tip of a pair of needle nose pliers with electrical tape, two or three times around should be plenty
2. pull the tape off the pliers, retaining the "hole" in the tape
3. put the tape from the pliers on the bulb
4. gently squeeze the wrapped bulb with the pliers and remove

Obviously, you don't want to squeeze too hard and break the bulb.
