How much for used third members?

I'm still pondering the idea of finding some used third members with 4.88 gears. How much do you think they would be worth a piece? I've got a quote for $200 a pop.

Also, how difficult is the front third member to remove? The rear looks easy but I don't know about the front. Is there anything special that needs to be done when removing them?

Thanks for the help.

I just recently removed my rear 3rd member to (attempt) to install my locker, and its fairly simple. Beware though, that thing is HEAVY. At least alot heavier than I expected It'd be a good idea to have at least one other person help. All it really takes is removing a crapload of bolts. Oh yeah, dont forget to drain the thing before you take it off too
It didnt take any special tools, just some good ol' wrenches and towels.

Sorry, I dont have a front diff so I cant help ya there...

$200 seems like a fair price, I've been looking here in Cali and the lowest price I've been quoted was $300 for the rear, the highest was $475($600 for both front and back at that place). The rear third member is relatively easy to pull, I've never pulled the front before but it looks like a PITA just from eyeballing it at the wrecking yard.

For the front, you pull the whole housing (PITA)

I got my front housing for free and paid $100 for the rear housing. Both had 4.10's.

Well I'm interested to know what they would go for, I've got F&R out of a 2002 Tacoma V6 coming on the market soon. The F has 4.88's and the R has 4.88's and trutrac LSD.
