Hot engine

Any thoughts on my 96 4Runner that can't cool the engine well enough with a 1st Gen SC. I was thinking a Flexfan to help suppliment. Running is fine, its that traffic that sends the needle skyward. Any info. or comments.

I would go with an electric fan like a flex-a-lite 210 if I was going to do anything fan-wise. I doubt the fan is the root cause of the overheating. Is the vehicle running lean at all? Any codes in the ECU? Do you have the proper mix of fresh coolant in there? Is the radiator free of obstructions? Is the thermostat sticking? Does the rad cap hold pressure? There are any number of questions to ask yourself but be careful of just using a bandaid on the sympom. Hope this helps.
