Hitch Install

So I've never installed a hitch and I know it's fairly easy. Am I correct is saying that you just mount the hitch into the pre drilled holes in the frame? And does the hitch usually come with the hardware.

As well, for the brake lights. Can you just splice into the existing wiring, or do you have to buy one of those fancy controllers?

Also, and suggestions on what kind of hitch to buy? I was looking at the U-haul one because the store is easily accessible. Anyone know of any other suppliers in Edmonton?

Truck is a '99 4runner LTD.

Thanks.

u haul

I have a U-Haul hitch. Just be careful and work safely. It fits great and tucks under nicely. The U-Hual light kit is cut and paste. I used a plug and play light kit. Good luck. Instructions are good.

All this is available on etrailer too. They have some pretty great prices. The wiring harness is plug and play - no splicing.

I would look over the hardware that is included very well before installing it.
The kit I bought years ago from Hidden Hitch had decent hardware but not the best.

I went and bought Grade 8+ hardware and even added an extra bolt in a hole they didn't even have a bolt for.

But as far as the install goes, yes, it's straight forward.

Definitely make sure to pull the two center bolts on the bumper and insert new ones through the hitch in to the bumper and buy the trailer light conversion kit for your truck.
