Lightbulb A Hilux Surf V6 - The best options...

Hi. If you were given the choice of a 1995 model V6 for 55,000 miles or one of similar condition at 75,000 miles that had recently been fully serviced (apparentely after 65,000 miles vehicles in Japan are typically fully serviced). Which would you go for?

I ask the question as I'm new to this vehicle and am getting the Hilux Surf through a export/import dealer who travels to Japan for auctions. I'm currently working in Mongola where I'll be needing the vehicle. The dealer recommends getting a higher mileage vehicle that has been recently fully serviced as servicing in Mongolia is very difficult. Either vehicle would cost the same. Any thoughts? What are the most important considerations?

Thanks,

Steve.

Things that go clunk after 65,000 miles

What typically needs attention with these V6's at around 65,000 miles? I hear a lot about the heads cracking due to overheating. Is this typical? In your experience what goes wrong?

is that the 3.0 v6? if so, the main complaint are head gaskets, but if it's a higher mileage vehicle, they should have been replaced(toyota issued a recall for them)
