High Pinion Axel ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

Hey Guys _____ Which 80 series high pinion rear axels (years) would work for the rear (and possibly the front also) of an 84 toy, 5sp 22r, with (7in sus.lift, 2in body lift and duels)???? I am currently running 35s and want to continue to run them; my gearing is 529, with fr/rr loc rights. I am contemplating using (high pinion 80 series LC axels) to eliminate the excessive angle from rear axel to t-case, or at least I’m in the research stage anyway. Also do I have to worry about the widths of the 80series axels, would that pose a problem?? And what gearing and lockers would be available, I’m running stock 84axel in front and V6 in back, is the time, money ,and effort worth it. ______ THANKS BAYRUNNER

First, an 80 series rear is not 8" so it would not fit in either end of your truck.

Second, the front diff is 8" and is commonly used in the front of solid axle Toys for driveline angle and strength.

You only need the diff, not the whole axle.

Putting one in the rear is never done with success.

Ditch some of the lift, 9" is a little much for 35's.

Yes you can, but not recomended for the rear unless its a trail rig. I would reccomend getting a new drive shaft made for the rear with a CV joint at rear output of the transfer case. Hi pinion center would work well for the front.
