Hi, help wanted

Howdy, finally got around to registering for the site and it seems like my kind of place. I just rebuilt my 4runner and am trying some new ideas out and hope someone might be able to help. Ive been trying to open up my air intake to flow alittle better and have run into a snag that no company ive found offers a cold air or ram air intake for 1st gen 4runners w/ a22re. now my question is, is there a difference between the engine bays of the truck and 4unners up to 93 that would keep me from using an intake designated for a truck from either generation? from what i can tell there isnt a difference but hoping someone has some thoughts. thanks!

Search this site for the Supra air flow meter swap. You get a much larger gate, is plug and play and while you're at it you can swap it over to the battery side and get cooler air coming into it.
There are also a number of posts involving building snorkels, both aftermarket (BLING$$) and homebrew that will get you cooler air and, in conjunction with the Supra afm, more of it. Ram air is debateable. Not many 22re 4Runners go fast enough to benefit from a hood scoop IMO and honest touters of snorkels will admit there is no real ram air function to them either.
After swapping to the Supra, you can go to an open air element as well. Various places sell the adapters. K&Ns open breathers are questionable as to whether or not they actually increase air flow so you may want to do some research on that as well.
I still haven't done any of the above mentioned on my '85 4Runner, but I'm lazy, cheap, and in the middle of raising a toddler so free time is at a premium
Welcome aboard!
