I have a 99 3rd gen SR5 4x4. It has 16 inch rims and no lift. What is the biggest tire I can fit on it? I'm currently have 265 70 16's on there but I'd like to go with 275 70 16's in the MT/R's.

Whatcha all think?

BTW I checked the archives and couldn't find what I was looking for.

that you can fit 33s under there, but you couldn't turn without rubbing like crazy. I would think a 275 would be tight fit and subject to some rubbing. Might ask your tire guy.

I'm putting on 33s next week, but I am also getting a 2" body lift.

From what I've read 265/75-16's are a good upgrade without a lift. These are approx. 1 inch bigger than stock so they are 32's

I'm pretty sure you can't fit more than 265/75's underneath without any lift at all. On a 16x7 rim, I don't rub on turns, but I do rub when going up inclines on turns. On a 16x8 rim, you'll rub on turns.

 

When I bought my 99 2wd, it had 275/70-16's on it and it didn't rub at all. They were Michelins that are originally sized/designed for a Land Cruiser. They will be fine. You may want to go with a 265/75-16 depending on price.

 

Can confirm I ran 265/75/16 Michelins LTX A/T on my 96 unlifted and 265/75/16 Dueller A/T and A/T Revo on my 99 before it was lifted.

No rubbing except for about an hour with those little nubbins that are on new tires. They wore off in an hour.
