I got it on my sliders I'm surprised how tuff it is. I'm getting ready to put my trk in shop to have a body lift thinkin that would be a good time to have entire underside done too

instead of making a new thread with my pics, i asked TS if i could post mine here.
heres the real reason i did it....after i hammered out some dents
before
i wish i would have washed the truck before i did it cause now it looks so dirty! have to wait 24 hours so ill get that done tomorrow! i would not have done it had i not ruined that rear bumper end (it was twice as bad as the pic) but i really like the look of it now and when my TJM gets here.....WATHC OUT!!!

No, sorry. I kind of promised one, but it never happened. If you look at my tech article about painting chrome fender trim black, you can just follow the instructions for your rims. The key is prep; so sand, prime, paint, clear is a good order to follow.

Looks like I'm gonna have to pull my fenders and start on my herculiner project today....pulling off the limited flares and herculining the lower parts of the doors/fenders...hopefully i can re-coup some of the cost by selling the flares

rob u just did mine. i found a great way to do it. auto parts places selll this aluminum body tape to cover holes. i just did two layers on each hole and hurculined over. it worked great. and you cant tell there is tape.

I wish you had mentioned this 4 hours ago....my paint has been drying for almost 2 hours now....all i could find locally was spray on bed liner....this stuf clumps wayyyy too easily. I will definitely get some roll on to cover the blemishes and use the aluminum tape to cover the holes as they are somewhat hideous.

I woke up this morning and went outside.....I almost puked because mine looks horrible...stay away from the spray paint bed liners....they dry weirdly and clump up. I am definitely going to have to sand it down and use the roll on liner. I will have pics of the crappiness later

Do you think that tape would work to cover the holes under the plastic topper of the back bumper...instead of putting that back on just hurc the top as well?

yeah it would work no problem. the principal is the same. i dont know how good it would look though. but i would recommend, if you go that route, to put more than two layers of tape on, becausethat area does see a lot more pressure and action. youd want to make sure you have a solid plugg.

I don't mean to be totally picky, but I think some of these Line-X'd parts would look somewhat better with a matte finish rather than gloss... perhaps some kind of clearcoat that isn't glossy?

ive done hurculiner twice. the first time i did not use a clear coat, and i found that the matte finnish did not look as good. pluss every time i waxed my runner, thw wax would get stuck in the hurculiner and it would look hideous. so the second coat i did, the clear coat when on after.

Get the UV Topcoat!
Guys, you gotta get this stuff! It took my junky looking faded in places Herculiner and made it new again! The stuff is non-toxic and it goes on with a paint brush.
I found the best deal to be on ebay. A place called AutoBarn had it for about $30 shipped. I only used 1/10 of the bottle too!

hey 96, great thread man. I'm been lurking and reading for awhile but I want to do this to my 2000 4 runner so I decided to finally register.
One question on your grill. I assume you took it off to paint it, but it's hard to tell what all you coated on the grill. Did you just do the outside silver part and leave the middle part undone?
