I have a 2000 4runner Limited 4x4 and I recently put springs from a 97 2WD 4runner on them. I got a good deal since I got them in a salvage yard. Ever since I put them on the ride quality (for the front passengers) seems better, but now it makes noises from under the car. This especially happens when I start to accelerate slowly from a dead stop and as soon as I come to a dead stop. Most of the time it is a snapping sound that sounds like something is popping into place. It is usually just one or two loud pops. Also when going over some speed bumps it happens along with some sqeaking. Can I put grease on the springs or will that not do anything? Any other ideas? Do I need to take the springs off to fix them?
