help me with my alarm!

I still don't know what kind of alarm is on my 4Runner. I disconnected it when I bought it because it didn't come with a remote and the dealership didn't know anything about the alarm.

It's got a single unlabeled red light in the dash to the left of the steering wheel as well as a generic looking metal toggle switch directly under the light beneath the dash.

Up under the dash against the firewall there is a sensitivity control box with a nob that goes from 1 to 10. This box is connected to what I can only assume is the processor which is mounted with a single bracket and that swings around some. The processor has no writing on it anywhere. from the processor there is a line that disappears up into the dash as well as a connector that is supposed to connect to another cable that goes into the dash. This cable is hanging freely right now and is the part that I disconnected. The line from the light in the dash is disconnected too, and i'm not sure where it's supposed to go to.

Does anyone have a picture of the factory alarm from a 2nd gen 4Runner? The factory alarms CPU is supposed to be under the seat from what I understand, but it looks like mine was at one point sticky taped to a spot under the dash and now it's just dangling.

Anyone know anything about this

-Keith

PS- Yes I searched already...

If there are no marking your chances of finding a manual + a remote for it are slim. Just take out the unidentified module and replace it. Decent alarms these days cost as much as a meal, plus you already have all the wires in one place. Easy decision.

Are the factory alarms clearly labeled? I know that if it's an aftermarket alarm there's no way I'll figure out what it is and will follow that advice. The lack of a brandname on it makes me think it could be the stock alarm and if that's the case I could probably get a remote for it.

If there is anyone with a 2nd gen and a digital camera that could click me a picture of the factory CPU then it would totally settle this. Plus you'd get the added bonus of being my hero.

EDIT: I have a very crappy digital camera, i can try and get pics tomorrow maybe.
