I had my 881 / 906 installed this past weekend, and I have a noticeable reverse rake. With the 255/70/15 tires I actually had about 34.25 front and 34.50 back from ground to fender before the lift, and now after the lift I have 36.25'' front and 35.25'' back. From the center of the wheelcaps, it's 22.7 front and 21.6 rear.

I've got a couple questions for this forum.

1) Does anyone else have experience with this setup and the nose high effect I'm seeing? How did it settle down for you?

2) If you think I'll have issues with 32'' inch BFG TA KOs and 15x8 rock crawlers w/ 4'' backspacing speak up please.

what struts and shocks are you using? stock bs is ~4.625" so keep that in mind.

 

You should be fine with the tire and wheel combo. They should work even on a stock runner.

As far as the front coming out high. Did you re-mount the spring seat on the front shock properly? It's easy to put it on upside down and this will give excess lift (and not be safe). This is how the seat should look.

 

I'm running the 91SC up front and 86C in the rear.

I thought the 906's were shorter in the rear?

I'd check the front struts to see if it was seated right x2.

When I had the daystar 2.5 up front and 906 in the rear
I had the same reverse rake.

I ended up changing my set up later on.

Those tires and wheel set up will work great with that lift.

 

that spring seat might be upside down.... I'd search for more pics of other ome front struts...

I really want to get the level look, so what is recommended to give a slight .5'' - .7'' lift to the rear without affecting my ride?

 

OME makes a 10mm spacer for the rear springs which may help..

 

Do I need special tools to put those on the rear? Sorry for the newbie question!

 

You shouldn't. It just sits on the coil.. or below the coil. Can't remember, but it's one or the other lol

 

881's settle pretty quickly, but I'm suprised you are seeing that much initial reverse rake.

 

Bump...so OP, did you figure out why you have that reverse-rake or did it settle?

 

FYI I am running stock 99 coils in the front and 906's in the rear and my Runner seems to sit level. IMO the 906's are slightly (about 1") taller in the rear than stock but seem to level out the truck just right. If I were you, I would leave the 881's up front and get taller springs for the rear or rear spacers. Just my 2 cents

 

Here's the result after almost a month.. and also after putting on some 33x10.5

The front is still about .5'' higher than the back when measured from the ground to the fender trim at it's highest point.

 

I know I mentioned I was going fro 32x11.50x15 up front, but I couldn't find any tires I wanted in that size. I went instead with 33x10.5, and while it's a skinnier than I wanted, I still like the look. What do you guys think?

Hey Bizzy, you said your runner is a '99?? I have a 99, and have looked at a million of them, your grill/bumper does not look like what they did in '99?!?!?!?! Also, Did you have the '99 tall coils in it beforehand? It can be confusing when thinking about all these different lift combos. I am bout to lift mine, but keep putting it off for lack of coming up with a combo that I wanna use. I bought the tundra bilstein lift shocks for the front that I will use with the tall coils, the lift in the back is still making me wonder what I wanna do. The tundra shocks are 1.5" higher than tacoma/4runner shocks, even on the lowest lift setting. So, one would figure that it would be approx 3 inches of lift in the front over stock since the tall coils are about 1.5" over a stock 4runner from 1998 or whatever. Yours is looking pretty good to me, though! And yes, OME does make a 10mm trim packer(so to speak) that should help you out in the rear a little bit. There are 25.4mm in an inch, so 10mm is about 3/8" inch or so, it should be enough to notice ya know. And yes Bird-doggin, we would like to see pics, thanks!!
