help with 3rd gen seat replacement
I'm a fairly large fellow and really dont like the height and comfort of the stock seats in my 99 runner. Does anyone have any experience with replacement of these? If so what was used? Also do other toyota models seats fit the factory rails?
I would like to replace the seats with something that is adjustable and more comfortable, so the racing/wheeling seats are probably not going to work.
Thanks

aaron,
since ive been here and on ODW and before that, VMAG, i dont think i've ever heard of anyone replacing their seats. however, i *think* i recall a thread about fab'g/creating new bolt holes for the seat rails. you know, like they do for those tall basketball players. i'm sure its entirely possible---but it'll cost ya.

Is it a legroom problem or a height issue (ie head in contact with the headliner)?
My friend who was 6'9" sat in there and was reasonably comfortable.
Everyone is built differently tho.
I am sure you could fab something up for using seats out of another vehicle that also had a height adjustment but like Bob said it will not be cheap. Find a car with adjustable seats that you are comfortable in and look for those on ebay or in a junkyard. Then you will need to do some engineering with a fab shop to redo the mounts and allow you to bolt them in. Remember these need to be safe too!

Thanks for the replies. Im not extreamly tall, however, It seems to me that my view of the road would be better If I were lower in the seat. I've never had to duck my head because of the rear view mirror like I do in my runner.
Thanks again
