heat&ac control unit replacement

1998 toyota tacoma The part of the control unit that blends the hot and cold air broke and I guess I will have to replace the whole unit. Is this a big deal to replace and where is the best place to find one?

I don't know about your Tacoma but my '98 4runner air temp is controlled via a cable attached to the control in the dash, maybe you just need the cable and not the whole control unit. That said, replacing that cable will probably be a royal PITA requiring you to chase it behind the dash so... I'd say if you have some time and general know how you could take the radio bezel off and take the heater control unit loose and see if you can tell where the cable goes. You might have to take a kick panel and maybe the glove box off as well. If it looks like more than you can handle once you get that far I guess you'll have to find a competent mechanic in your area.

Thanks It seems that something is broken inside to assembly itself and it looks like I will have to replace the whole thing. Just looking for some help with that.
