Head Unit question
#2
Amplify what? Do you want to use it to run a sub or just speakers. I thought that every head unit has a built-in amp to run the speakers. Otherwise, it would be useless if it did not. Just what do you want? :fireman:

If it doesn't have an amp, you will just have to run an external one or two.
The only time you would need to have an amp built in is if you want to power say a set of rear door speakers, but you can do that off a 4 channel amp anway.
If you like the deck, I'd go for it. But you will want probably two amps.
One for your doors, and one dedicated for the sub woofer.

I got a Clarion with no on board amp. (HX-D10 limited)
Benefits are it runs cooler and draws less power. All good in home and in car units try to keep power supply and signal processing circuits separate.
Clarion claim this improves sound quality.
I have 4 amps fed off a Clarion active crossover.
The set up works well...it will only be a problem if I want to use the unit in a car with restricted space for amps.
