Head Gasket?

Just installed a TRD supercharger 2 weeks ago, and only put on 200kms. As I'm driving home I noticed the the vehicle running ruff at low rpm. Then I noticed the temp rising fast. Radiator fluid was low, so I topped it up and drove home, temp was fine. Now I am noticing a lot of smoke/steam coming from the tailpipe, cooland seems to be dropping and bubbles do appear from the radiator when topped up.

The Toyota dealership quoted me over 3K for repair as they charge $189/hr, I'm in Fort McMurray Canada.

Can anyone tell me how long it would take to change the head gasket myself? Is it a difficult job? I did install the supercharger myself.

1999 4Runner 3.4l with 160,000KMs.

Thats an insane hourly rate, even for Canadian dollars. You could probably find a better dealer.

As for doing it yourself, I'd say a couple of weekends. Or if you have a helper then one weekend. But you may also wanna get the heads checked out by a shop.

Gasket kit price?

What is a reasonable price for a gasket kit? Napa told me $980, and $100 for the bolts. Toyota is only $550. Then you look online and there are some for much less. Cany anyone recommend a certain brand?

Ouch!

If you can do the s/c, you should be able to do a headgasket. Check this out before you dive in; there's some good info in there.
