Question Has anyone ever broke 5 wheel studs??

I dont know what was going with my wheel stud that day but mayn it sucked! I had just got my 3rd gen runner's wheels aligned @ pep boys and they striped out one of the wheel studs, so i took it home and was about to try and re-thread it w/ a tap and dye set but when i was trying to take the rest of the lug nuts off 4 of them were frozen. They backed off a little bit then would hardly turn and as i was trying to force them off they sheared in half. So i ended up w/ only two good studs and lugs for one tire which was pretty scary. and it was wierd because the two that were still good worked fine, i could spin the lugs all the way until it contacted the rim. So then i went to the dealer and got some new studs, and as i was proceeding to take the two lugs off one of them was hard as hell which i had just previously put on and i ending up breaking another one...and i know that this lug wasn't cross threaded or too tight or anything. so i dont get it... should i put some kind of anti-sieze on my lugs and whats the ideal torque setting for lug nuts. Let know if this has happened to anyone else cuz this really confused me!

:wtf:

oh yah...does anyone know where i can order a deck plate cuz the marine equip. stores around my area suck....or i just dont know where to look. i'd appreciate it

Yep...on a '72 International Travellall.
Driving down the highway, late at night with the truck jammed full of buddies going to some cabin north of the end of the world. Started to hear a thumpthumpthump. Pulled over and found I was short one lug. No problem...I got 4 more. Didn't take long for the remainder to shear off. Just long enough to find myself 40 miles north of Temmagami Ontario. Not the end of the world, but we could have seen it, if it wasn't 02:dark.
Spent the night sleeping in the lounge of Northern Ontario Railway station and that was the first and only time I ever saw repair parts flown in by floatplane.
Cause - my fault...forgot to re - tighten the wheel nuts after changing a flat!

Pep Boys may have cross threaded the lug nuts while putting them back on. It doesn't really much matter. They probably won't take the responsibility for it.
