gutted cat.

The previous owner of my truck gutted the catalytic converter I was wondering if this helps or hurts. I have had people tell me that gutting one frees up the air flow and provides more horse power and I have heard some say that it destroys vital back pressure which provides low end tourqe. I know it is illeagle but it just sounds so good with my flowmaster.

Your right it is illegal. You can find an aftermarket cat cheap, which will help your torque and the environment, through a Downey cat back. You could probably do everything yourself for $250.

Guess there be no inspections down there in Georgia. I would still replace it with something for two reasons 1) my concious and 2) I'm an enviromental freak. Doubt this is the answer you wanted but when start something off with I know it's illegal on a board that thousands of people surf your going to catch some crap as you've just seen.

I was expecting such

Even if it was not against the law I would not recomend this mod the gains are not worth the effort and if you do not get a performance muffler it sounds like crap. I plan on getting a free-flow cat with hopes that it will not tone down my flowmaster to much.

The gain isn't worth the price - no matter what you get out of it.
Please make an effort to correct this problem.
