Grill Gaurd VS custome bumper ?
hey all,
im not sure which is better, i value everyones opinion here, thats way im asking, i know that a grill gaurd is cheaper, but can you ad a winch to that ? on a 99 4 Runner ? on the other hand, ive seen some awesome bumpers on here, im cost al ittle more, so, which is better, customer bumper ? or a grill gaurd with a winch ?
TTHANKX for any ideas, comments or suggetions

i say a new bumper, weither it be custom, arb, tjm. you cant go wrong. i have had mine on for about 3 weeks now and i definatly think its awesome. if you want purely cosmetic, then i say go with the brushgaurd. i heard from somewhere though that it doesnt really provide much protection and if you get in a wreck, it can actually cause more damage to your vehicle. as far as adding a winch to a brushgaurd, im not sure if thats possible. i would just get a bumper that is made to have a winch (arb, tjm) just my $.02

i don't think you can add a winch with a grille guard. they will protect you from real minor damage, but that's about it. if you have the means, go for a real bumper. if not, grille guards are still cool.

You can get one of the grille guards that are designed for use with a winch, such as the Warn ones, or add a front receiver and have a detachable winch mount below a non-winch compatible grille guard. I agree with the other guys that you should go with the bumper instead. I think that it would be worthwhile not doing it twice- grill guard first, then selling it at a loss, and replacing it with a winch bumper. There are many to choose from out there, such as the ARB, and the TJM, and there are the custom ones. I have a custom one from www.badlandbumpers.com
My friend did just that, he bought a Genuine Steel 1 piece welded grille guard, and 3 months later, well he had a truly custom one made for his truck.
