To test the plugs wires - pull one off a spark plug and hold it to the tip of your tongue.... KIDDING!! Dont do it!

Tonight when it's dark, run your engine and look under the hood. If you see arcing, then you need new wires badly! If you see not arcing, move them around a bit like you did today and if you still see no sparkies, you can forget em. Even though volts are high, amperage is low, or it would be very dangerous to work around the ignition wires with the engine running. Getting shocked by a spark plug wire will make you jump but it is not particularly harmful.

Also, you might want to check your plugs (condition, gap etc) and make sure the engine to frame ground is clean and secure.

as with the above suggestion, spray soapy water on the wires. if they are cracked or grounding, you will get a miss and should be able to see a visible arc.

I thought it was like half an amp.

Either way, I dont think there is anyway a spark plug wire could kill you. Then again, I probally shouldnt say that.....

If ya got bit, change the wires! You already have the "proof" there is voltage leaking.

Working on cars I have been bit several times. Early HEI ignitions system HAVE killed people. I have been zapped with 440 volts, 400hz on aircraft. The hardest hit I ever got was 120 volts DC. Couldn't let go, blacked out, fell backwards off the bench I was on (that disconnected me and slapped me back to life).

volts don't really matter, some stun batons run at 300,000 Volts... but anything over 70 milliamps can kill you, keyword CAN, means it may not.. but, why tempt fate?
