got my truck back

so i was really lazy and i needed a clutch job desparately so i broke down and wasted like $500 (in labor) to have someone do it for me. i dropped my truck off thursday night at the place, they started on friday, and finished up yesterday early. (don't ask why it took so long). anyways, they gave me a loaner car for the time it was in the shop. i got a 2001 ford taurus, fully loaded. well i put about 500 miles on that thing.

i got my truck back yesterday afternoon. as i was driving home to myself, i started thinking. "hmmmm, this truck is slow. this truck is loud. this truck is rusting out. this truck makes strange noises. i can watch the gas guage falling. i have power NOTHING on it. and I LOVE IT!!!! IT'S SO GOOD TO HAVE MY BABY BACK!!"

haha. fords suck.

hahah nice.

i had my truck in the shop one day and had an 03 corolla as a rental... not the same situation, but i was like WOW I LOVE MY TRUCK. this proved it to me that i dont want any other car in the world... unless it was something like an M5, or some other unrealistic vehicle.

good luck

those new corollas are pretty nice i think.

i'm currently driving a Saturn SL1 as my rental car. it's nice being able to take corners fast, and you know, have decent acceleration. but yeah i miss my 4runner.

yeah, i shoulda changed out the clutch back in september, after i finished her off smoking the crap out of it on the dunes, but never got around to it. (not to mention i've put on about 5000 miles since then, some of them while towing). i asked them to save the remainder of the clutch so i could see it. there really wasn't much left to see. the clutch pad (the part that actually rubs) was basically paper thin. the guy told me "there's really no logical explaination as to why your truck was still running". i told him "it's a toyota" and walked away. haha

After my 4runner was laid up for 10 days while I put my timing chain in I had to drive my dads 72 chevey beat to heck farm truck. It had a 350 with headers (some serious power compaired to my 22re) but it just felt so clunky. After a few days I realized it used exactly 2x the gas that my 4runner did! Boy was I glad to get back in my 4runner. It was so smooth and refined feeling from the transmision to the suspension. It was like going back in time and driving my 91' 4runner off the lot for the first time. Boy do I ever love it.

Yea dud, that 350 sucked down a gallon every 9 miles and my 4runner got 18mpg for the same drive to work.

My work truck is a 2006 dodge dakota 4x4 v8. I hate that piece of s$%# with all its powered everything and the pretty turn the knob to go into 4x4. At the end of every day I hop into my 400,000 km 90 4runner 4x4 and thank the japanese for knowing how to build a real truck. The 90 runner feels better on the road I hate that Dodge one finger power steering that gives no road feel.
I wanna be buried in my runner.
