Got My HID's Installed

i've never had bright lights in my face and decided the best thing to do is to veer into traffic or at a pole, if its bright squint and look toward the ground, you can get pissy but dont threaten his life, i personally wouldnt (and dont) choose the same mods he has for his truck, but if you dont like his truck no reason to post 12 times about how mad you would be if he was driving opposite you...that said, do your thing Fo, as forum about all off road we need your street look to help balance us out
...and mogger, your truck is still b/a..
no need for fighing thats what pirate is for

Back up to 55 tomorrow though.
I get blinded by oe AND aftermarket HIDs in my daily driver (Integra) (OEM ride height – not lowered). I just keep my eyes on the yellow line on the right side of the lane until they pass. Frankly, I get a little more nervous that the lifted, rust bucket K5 Blazer with the ear level bumper won’t be able to stop before it t-bones me and replaces the Chevy bowtie with my melon.
Do YOUR thing Sheezy. It’s your ride. If you think that you might run the risk of blinding people, aim the lights lower to be safe. You’ll still get the same output until you have time to complete your retro.

This is no where near Pirate.
As you said, this is a forum. My posts were to deter others from doing this. I have no delusions that the OP will change his rig now. Hopefully I will sway newbs.

Fo Sheezy, I really respect what you've done to your 4Runner.
You wouldn't catch me dead with 22's or HIDs or anything,
but its your quality, craftsmenship, and vision
that really make that truck stand out.
Especially to come on a site like this and share your mods, etc...
I just figured that you'd like some positive feedback
amongst all the hating and ranting that goes on
in some of these threads.
He didn't post up asking about your stance on HIDs.
He, like all of us here, adding something to his rig
and was nice enough to share it.
This forum thrives on pics and writeups and such.
Without them, it'd be nothing but 3rd gen 4Runner tire size threads
and Top Gear Hilux reposts.

pirate is all a bunch of old pissed off guys who have nothing better to do than bash people for no apparent reason... that being said, i still like flaming the idiots over there occasionally when im bored in class.
fo sheezy, those are REALLY blue... i dont think i could see out of the truck with those, but if you can, more power to you.
ive been considering doing an HID projector retrofit but im not sure how well they will hold up when submerged.
did you say you were going to do the HID fogs as well?

From my experience modifying the headlights doesnt always result in an 'improvement'. A few years ago I dropped some change on some composite housings and H4 silverstar bulbs for my 84 (yes, I know these are not HID). After a few months I switched back to the stock sealed beams because the new bulbs/reflectors were absolutely HORRIBLE in the snow/rain/fog. White/blue light just isnt good in bad weather. I figure the factory designed it and the DOT legalizes it this way for a reason.
As for me, I will be more than content running my stockers, and to top it off they are much cheaper to replace! I will take function over appearance any day.

He sure did. Anytime you post something in a PUBLIC forum, you're asking for either praise or criticism. And since everyone has different opinions, you will end up with a lot of both.
Some members seem to get too defensive and yell out "hater" to anyone who doesn't see it their way. If they can't handle something like this on the interent, I wonder how they will fare in real life?
I don't like this "mod." Call me a hater or whatever. THAT'S MY OPINION! And I will voice it every time. If you can't take the positive comments as well as the negative ones, don't post! (this isn't aimed at you FoSheezy. From the past thread, I know you can take a little beating.
)
BTW, that looks like a 10k or something. Anytime you go over 6k, having an HID is really a moot point. No wonder you're not getting flashed--they're not bright enough to blind anyone.

I believe there is a confused issue here.
It is NOT okay to personally attack someone for a modification. Calling them an idiot, or cussing at them or anything. It is completely prohibited in the rules of this site. There are other sites where that is fine.
What IS okay on this site is discussion and opinion, and criticism. I see some personal attacks here, and they should be removed.
I fail to see how hating HID's translates to hating Fo Sheezy.
I have nothing against Fo Sheezy, AND I think he has a really cool truck. I really like the interior mods he's done, and plan to duplicate some of it in my own truck.

I'll accept any kind of feedback positive or negative, even if there is more negative than positive it's not going to bring me down. I knew what I was getting myself into when I started this thread and there was only one thing I wanted everyone to know is that these HID's aren't blinding anyone!
Even if he feedback is negative, I'll accept the criticism, I'm just glad I got as much feedback as I did. The only thing I'm afraid of is that around here cops are really strict on exterior blue lighting on a vehicle. And yes within a week or two I will be doing my fogs, I just need to order the Hella Micro DE's. Right now Amazon are sold out and every other website has them for about $130.
Here's the CNlight chart for the different colors, I've got the QB. I'm not sure what K they are.

Yeah, be careful with those cops... I got pulled over the other night for having blue parking lights... He didn't say a thing about my projectors, just that he thought that my white leds were blue. After he went and took a closer look and I told him that they were white, he agreed with me, and let me go.
So if a cop thinks that my white LEDs are blue, I'm sure they will not have any problem pulling you over with those.

I'd say people are being pretty civil. Frankly, I think there are alot of people who would like to turn this nasty, but are controlling ourselves.
I remember one time at work one of our superintendents (who is maybe 50) was showing off pictures of his massively lifted and pimped-out Chevy 2500. After talking about how much he babies it, he told us about how just the other day, when he got back it back from the shop, some guy at a light told him "nice truck". He told me: "That's why I built this truck."
I lost all respect I had for him at that point. The fact that a man twice my age is still caught up in juvenile posturing and needing positive reinforcment is pretty sad. He can't even claim my generation's excuse of being raised in the era of 'self-esteem'.

Lookin good Sheezy! I thought you were crazy when you ordered the QB, but it matches well with the whole theme of your ride!
Also, I don't want to get involved about the glare of an HID Kit. It's true an HID kit can blind the crap out of you, but so can halogens. I've been blinded by people's aftermarket HID kits, but I've been blinded FAR more times from glass halogens aimed upwards and very tall trucks than compared to some guy's aftermarket HID kit.
NONE of you can say that you've never been blinded by someone's halogens OR OEM projector HIDs. It is false to say all aftermarket HID kits automatically include a load of hot spots and glare. I've NEVER been flashed, but I have flashed numerous people with OEM equipment.
Edit: One thing to remember is that many cameras (especially your average cellphone/digital camera like to accentuate light and then in pictures, your car looks very very glary.
To give you guys a little idea of what I'm talking about:

You make a good point, BUT you need to compare two of the exact same pics. Your first picture with your point and shoot is much lower than the other, which will obviously result in more "glare".

Here's a couple more pictures I took.
