I feel your pain man, I was hit and run on in my 4Runner, doing some serious damage to the front end. The driver was alll over the road driving in a snow storm without his lights on - the cops said he was likely drunk.

Besides ripping off the from frame rail extensions, the frame remained okay and I was able to repair it myself (took a while) without going through insurance.

It'll get sorted out, just be greatful that you are okay. We can always get other 4Runners

youch, insurance companies rarely total toyota's because of the value of them.. from the pics they will probably just get it fixed, but on the other note if they for some reason do make sure you buy it back.. wont cost much to fix.

My friend who works for a collision shop looked at the pics and he didn't think it was even close to a total.

Words like that are remembered by the forum when you ask for help at a later date. I don't pride myself by having dents either. I take care of my truck. But, I insure for worst and hope for the best. If somehting does happen to my truck, oh well thats I carry good insurance and there is nothing else I can do. I wouldn't let it piss me off and run around with my hair on fire.

Glad to see there were no injuries and good luck fighting ur ticket.

btw for the record, an insurance company will often total vehicles if they are wrecked like that. They base parts prices off brand new parts, nothing else. So instead of the $2000 or so he could get all the parts for, the insurnace company views it as well over $4500 just in brand new OEM parts. And since the truck is only worth $10k blue book, $4500 in parts plus 2k+ in labor will total the truck out.

Some guys are being real jerks here.....this is obviously a street truck that may see some off-road use.....not an off-road truck that may be driven to the trails occasionally.
Try to be more sympathetic......its a very nice truck.......any decent Yota-Head would/should feel sick just looking at those pics.
It can be fixed and even made better but, for now it hurts him.....and if it was my daily driver I'd be real upset too!

Sometimes people post things they shouldn't....I have before.....hopefully they don't really mean what they said.

"Words like that are remembered by the forum when you ask for help ". Are you serious??? I'm not even going to bother with a reply to that.

To the rest of you guys, thanks for the support.

I had an estimate done today and its $5,860 to have it back to the way it was. Had an aligment done today and all checks out fine so i guess its all cosmetic.

Claims adjustor from my ins. co. is gonna look at it this week and my ins. co. said he will just cut me a check (minus my $2k deductable i'm guessing) to take to the body shop.

Now i'm debating just living with it not being perfect and just buffing out/krayloning what I can and just getting a new TJM and fender and living with it not being perfect.

I'll keep you posted.

all these threads about accidents lately; i think i'm going to park my baby in a bomb shelter until the bad luck vibes move on to the Fords where they belong!

sorry to see yet another beauty out of commission; i hope only temporarily though.

There has to be some sort of new car bad karma out there. you had ur rig for a few weeks and it got in a wreck. When I had my chevy the night i was on my way out a piece of wood flew out of a truck bed in front of me cracking my windshield, ripping off my sunroof deflector and taking out the sideview mirror. i was driving my friends new E430 only a wek old and got tboned in his neighborhood. I guess if you buy a vehicle hide it for 3 weeks and you should be okay

Your deductible is $2k??? Hopefully if it was the other guys fault you can go after him for your deductable.

I know how you feel. The first week I had my first new car I was rearended. I was 26 years old and proud to have purchased my first new car and WHAM!!!! To make matters worse I injured my back and will likely have back pain for the rest of my life. But at the time I was more upset about my new truck so I know what its like. I hope everything works out for you. I had problems with my body shop. They did a horrible job and I had to take it back multiple times. And then, somebody at there shop dropped something on my roof and dented it in. Its been a few years and it still kinda pisses me off when I think about the whole ordeal. I learned as you have, its hard having something nice.

I sold that truck to buy my 4runner. Bought it used but I'm very happy with it. These are nice vehicles

i have never heard of a 2k deductible nor a finance company that would allow that. most finance companies don't want you to have a deductible over $500. thats hell of a lot to dish out of pocket

I was offered a MAX deductible of $1000 for my Dodge, and I financed $12,000 on it. I opted for the $500 deductible, for this very reason!

Bumper i could order, but the TJM would be a better option IMHO.

Fender, not sure. I may be able to find a black one, but I will have to search tomorrow.

hmmm this is interesting talk about insurance companies totaling rigs. I crashed my 01 tacoma 4x4 sr5. The total damage after the body shop got through with it was near 11,000. It was my fault/ DUI and they didn't total it. I bought it for 16,000. BTW man, THAT was an ordeal. seems like going after this inbred with no insurance shouldn't be a problem. But yeah, it is time consuming. Good Luck!!!
