I guess that you neighbor is not too serious about selling the truck.

AK does your neighbor have caller ID. Cause that might explain why he won't answer the phone.

A general guide to used Taco prices can be found at

www.kbb.com ... look for the private sale price

96 Taco ... mmmm. sounds like around $5,000 or less.
Because, I think the present owner hasn't replaced the cluth yet.

Good luck.

Wow, I have a similar problem here. I found a 96 for about $5k, at a dealer lot, but can't get anyone to return my phone call, plus I stoped and left a note on their door. It's like, what gives do they want to sell it or not.

Same here. Yotas are big bucks. Hell, 2 yrs back I got 10.3k ON A TRADE IN for a 96 Taco xtra-cab w/ 86k on the clock. The dealer sold my truck in 3 days for 11.5k. I bought the truck 3 yrs. earlier w/ 54k on it for 13k.

people seem to think they struck gold when they get toyotas/parts around here. 2500 for an '85 2wd truck in decent condition isn't uncommon, and a '93 4x4 will typically go around 5 grand for a 4 cylinder

Ouch, There is a 95 4x4 for 4500 in the local paper, I'd be interested in it except it is an automatic, and I don't like 4cyl and auto matchup here in the hills.
