Yes, I did check to see if the rear drums were replaced. Brand new (I checked for the cracks I put in it when I was trying to take them off)

Apparently, the rear drums were "so soaked in oil it was impossible to machine them".

When I brought the truck in they said they were going to look over the truck to see exactly why it was leaking, then call me with the quote. When they called with the $800+ tax quote, I told them I was going to take the truck home and find money for the repair, adn thats when they told me about the $80/hour diagnostics fee, and that they spent 3 hours finding the leak.

that is insane! why would you ever do that?! you knew it was the seals

you should really listen sometimes. could have saved some $$$$$. but that is all said and done now. glad the runner is fixed.

I got OEM rear brake pads for under $30 and the OEM seals only ran me $7/each. I also had to replace the brake cylinders in the rears and that added about another $80 to the bill for the pair.
The dealerships just rape you since a solid reputable independent garage would have saved a person at least a couple hundred bucks.
