Gear ??'s and BudBuilt skids ??'s

Two questions..

How can I easliy tell what gear ratio I have? There is a guy selling a e-locker out of a taco for 400 bucks online with a 4.10 gear ratio

Thinkin of doing the BudBuilt Skid plates, anybody like or dislike them for any reason?

Thanks!

Is that price with the computer and everything related or just the 3rd member? And it is most likely 4.10s in your truck but in order for it to work I believe you have to drill and tap some different holes into the axle housing.

The budbuilt skids are great. They can take quite a pounding.

Thanks guys for the help. I know about how you have to mod the axle housing, I think I can do it. But it seems like everyone other 3rd gen runner I see has a TRD E locker. So I am kinda wondering if I can just get the whole thing axle. And that guy selling is just the 3rd member, no electronics, I am pretty sure.

I just looked at my code. its VZN185L-GKMGKA. Its seems like since my truck came with 225 size tires stock, I have 3.909.

Another vote for budbuilt skids! I love mine, they are a great product and bud is a great guy to deal with! I see you have coil-overs which will be extremely handy after adding the skids as well.

You will get more bang for more buck with the locker. I would get the locker first as well.

there is a relatively easy way to tell for sure what gear ratio you have. Just get one tire off the ground jacking from the axle. Mark the tire position against something stationary next to the tire and mark the position of your driveshaft against where it enters your 3rd member. You may need some help here. Put your truck into neutral and and spin the tire 20 times and count the number of revolutions your driveshaft makes in those 20 tire revolutions. if you have 3.9's you should count 39 revolutions on the driveshaft.
