Ok, So all of you are going to hate me for asking this but i've read this entire forum 2 times and it confuses me more each time. I have a 2000 4runner with the digital ac/heat unit. I want to replace all bulbs green to blue. Including gauge cluster, blinkers, ignition ring, shifter, climate control, rear window switch, etc switch, cigarette lighter, glove box, ash tray light ... EVERYTHING in dash to blue ... I need someone to give me a shopping list so i can get all of these lights. Im sorry for asking for this but every time a post it seems as though someone is saying a different light and i need one copy of everything i need so as not to order the wrong lights and go through the pain in the ass process of trying to return something from an online store. Please help me out. Thanks

 

Bran, can't help you on your shopping list sorry, but I may be able to help in another area. I just bought several #74 to test the quality and to see how things work. I picked these up:

And of course I had major hot spots. So I came up with an idea... I picked up a can of chrome paint and painted the pack of the climate control plate:



That will help reflect the light instead of the black absorbing it. Also, over the hole that is used for the right control knob there is a "shade" over it (used for the original light so the knob isn't too bright) I took a dremal and ground that down so the light covers more of the area. I still plan on getting better LEDs (ones with more lights per unit) and it will be even better.

I really have to appoligize for the poor pics, my camera is on it's last leg. Plus darkness is getting rare up here so I had to take them with blankets over the truck to get it dark enough to really see them well.

 

So, took me forever to finally get around to posting pictures but i got a new camera yesterday so i figured why not take a few pics. Heres how it turned out. Also ... there are neons in floorboards but they didnt photograph well so i didnt include those pictures, looks a lot like fo_sheezys floorboards.

and what size LEDs did you use for behind the dash and the temperature control?

 

i live in decatur, right outside huntsville ... i used #24 bulbs for the 3 main gauge lights. And the HAVC bulbs were two type a and two type b neo wedge bulbs.

 

yea i know where decatur is at, i went up there last year when my high school had a play off game up there.

and how do the #24 bulbs fit? are they loose or just right?

#24 tri-LED perfect fit (2000 SR5)



and when I tried to pull out the cig lighter it obviously wouldn't come out and i'm stuck with the ugly yellow. Tried covering it with sharpie and no good and my ECT rear defroster light seems to have died

 

Those are real nice! Got a link to the exact bulbs you used? I don't see any hot spots at all.

 

I see hot spots in the exact same spots as mine, as for the cig lighter, brake the bulb (that's what everyone else has done, including me) and then widen the socket and a 74 should fit in there perfectly..

I would like to know which neo-wedge bulbs you used for your HVAC controls, yours look a lot better than mine!

 

Well i guess looking closer i see some minor hot spots, just doesn't seem as bad as some.

 

Yeah I would say the hot spots in white don't stand out as bad as other colors like blue, red, green.. etc.

so i'm guessing if his 2000 and your 2002 all took 24 then thats probably what my '01 is?
