Fuel Consumption
Just for kicks and giggles this morning I was attempting to calculate the fuel consumption of the 3vze in gallons per hour. I may be a little off here but I figure someone can look over the math.
I used 60 miles per hour just to make things simple.
60 Mi/Hr X 1 gal/17 miles (mpg reciprocal)= 3.53 gal/hr
1 hr/3.53 gal X 17.5 gal (approx tank size)=4.96
Note the following:
1. For mpg I used 17, since this is freeway speed assuming flat, no wind, sea level or close.
2. Miles per tank:
4.96 hrs X 3.53 gal/hr X 17 mi/gal = 297 miles / tank (seems a little high, but close)
I understand the fuel consumption will change throughout the rpm range and will also vary with load and all sorts of other stuff 4wd etc.
I was really curious how long the truck would sit at idle before exhausting the tank.
I was also wondering what kind of milage people were getting in 4wd, slow trail type stuff under 20 mi/hr
