what octane do you guys use with the 3.4 ?
- what about the super charged 3.4?

I don't have one but I believe that it's said to use regular (87) with normal aspiration and premium (92+) with supercharged.

 

I use 87 octane, never anything else. That's what the truck calls for, that's what it gets.

 

Funny story about octane:

I was driving down the I5 (SF to LA) and stopped at Chevron around 1/2 way. On that day, the only pumps that were working were the ones for 87. Perfect for me. So across the way, some big doofus pulls up in a brand new white Camry. He starts cursing out loud about how they don't have 92 so he says to me "HEY, you ain't puttin' 87 in your truck are you?" And I said "Yeah, the engine is designed for 87" and then he goes, "Youre gonna kill that nice 4x4 of yours, pal". And I said "Oh really? Maybe you'd like to read my owner's manual and show me where it says I should put in 92?" And he says "Have you ever heard of PING-ING?" and I said "yeah, ive heard of it but not in my 4runner...but yeah, thanks for your advice". He got pissed b/c I kept my cool and he just peeled out like the doofus he was.
