Front Inner Oil Seal - How deep?
I changed my gears a few weeks ago on my 2000 4runner with a new front third/axle, I also got new Inner oil Seals with the front too. On the pass side front IFS, I have an leak. I put the oil seal all the way in until it stopped. I will be buying a new seal, but can't seem to find in my Chilton book how deep to place this seal. The book only references the pinion at 1.5mm. If anyone knows if this seal should only be placed a small amount or all the way? Mine is currently in about .5 inch and leaks.

Yep. The seal face on the tulip will not contact properly if you install the seal all the way to the bottom of the housing. You'll notice that the tulip has some in and out play too.
