Forever Black is the shizzle!

I bought it at the recomendation of someone on here for my faded fender flares. The stuff works great. It took 4 coats but now the black looks like it has armor all on it 24/7.

I must be an idiot if everyone else loves this stuff so much. I used it on my front bumper lower valence and the dust guard on my tailgate window. Ever since, it has looked streaky, with some parts blacker than others. I have done multiple coats but it still looks this way. I need to get some pics up so you can see how awful it looks.

Talking Forever Black

IMO it is anything BUT "forever". I tried it on my rear bumper top plastic piece and it looked TERRIBLE after several applications and a re-application. A waste of money IMO.

I did my mirrors and rubber areas around the window with 2 coats and my fender flares took 4-5 coats before they quit looking streaky and looked consistant. Its been on for 2 weeks and 2 washes and still looking good.

OK... now I really want to post some pictures so that you guys can confirm that I need more coats. It looks really bad right now, and I'm afraid to put more on. I'll take some snapshots when I get home tonight.

OK, I felt inspired by your post so I went ahead and thoroughly cleaned the valence, dust guard, and running boards last night. Applied 2 coats of FB to each surface. The front valence is actually looking a lot better, same with the running boards. The tailgate dust guard still looks like a#%. Does this stuff work just as well on smooth surfaces? Maybe I shouldn't use it on the guard.

I noticed that in the case of rough surfaces like my fender flares it looks better than how it did on my hard plastic mirrors. But I didnt have any problems though with the mirrors or windshield wiper arms came out. I dont have a dust guard so I cant offer any advice on that one.

I've also used it on my fender flares, mirrors, and window trim. Its been at least two months since I applied the stuff and it still looks tits. Great product!

P.S. Depending on your fade, you'll probably only need 2 coats.

Just a thought, I noticed that one of the bottles it comes in looks just like the "Kiwi" brand black leather dye for shoes, so I gambled and put some on the faded rear window trim on my maxima and it worked like a charm and lasted for months. I picked it up at Walmart for like a $1.99

So is this stuff some sort of a dye? The best way to clean any plastic that is faded is to use a polish (any polish that you would use before a wax) on the surface (you'll see all the oxidation coming off on the rag) and then wax it. Yes, you can wax plastic with great results, just stay away from rubber!

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but I'm needing to do something about the window trim around my front 4 windows, starting to get patchy looking and I just got the rig painted so it really stands out.

I've heard this stuff works really well from some people and then crappy from others and I've also heard that a product called Vinylex works really well.

Those of you who have used Forever Black, how is it holding up these days?

Thanks,

Fink

Mines been on for 1.5 years now and my fender flares still look great. The only thing that is due are the rubber strips around the windows, they could use some touch up. This stuff is well worth it even it if was a once a year thing.

Forever Black is more like "shoe polish" where as Vinylex is more like a conditioner...as I've used both products.

If you are looking to paint something to bring it back to color, then Forever Black will work. Just realize that it rubs off easily.

If you are looking to treat your vinyl/rubber and condition it back to color, then use Vinylex. It doesn't rub off or leave a slimy mess.

I like Mother's Back To Black;easy to rub in and keeps the plastic looking black for over a month and a half before it needs another application.

I agree with X-AWDriver. Some clay, wax, and Back-to-Black, and you'd never know the truck is 12 yrs old!
