FK-35 DC Controls electric fan controller
I think my FK-35 controller is dying on me. This past weekend we were out in the desert in 105 degree temps not problems at all. Temps were just fine and the gauge didn't move. This morning sitting in traffic, 80 degrees out, gauge starts to climb and the fan never comes on. I get to work and shut the truck down and the fan, which usually runs for a minute after shutdown, is still off.
Has anyone had any experience with these controllers and when they die? Do they start to work only sporadically, then eventually quit?

Yup, the temp sensor connection was loose. Somehow the pins were pushed together just enough for it to move and lose contact occassionally. I straightened the pins out and the connector fit nice and snug.....temp gauge was perfect all day yesterday.

Mine quit working once because one of the black lock nuts came loose somehow. I probably didn't tighten the connections down enough. I couldn't figure out why it stopped working because those things blended in with the housing of the unit. I had to send it back and the guy at DCC figured out the problem. I felt like a dork....

That's the only downside to cooling eletronically, the stupidest thing can happen (missing nut, loose connection) and it will throw you into a world of worry wondering why the engine won't stay cool. Those stupid things are almost always the hardest to find, too.

If you think about, that is the downside to a lot of the mods/repairs that you do yourself. I am always worried about if I performed everything correctly. Most of the time, everything turns out okay but I just can't stop thinking about my truck sometimes when I should be thinking about other things. It's like OCD or something. A lot of times, my girlfriend thinks I am in deep thought about something her conversation while we are driving around but no, I am probably thinking about lubing my driveshaft. Heh.
