Extended Cab Tacoma Guys HELP!!
#1
Would any of you drivers of the above be able to help me out. Heres the situation. Ive got a 98 std cab tacoma. I have the lifted OME leaf packs that Im going to install. The leaf springs that my std cab use are a different length than the extended cab ones. I would like to know the lenth from the front eye to the back eye of your springs. the back eye being the top shackle bolt not the bottom. (use the centers of both) I just need a straight measurement so I know how far to move my rear bracket. Since the distance between the front mount and the axle center are the same. If any of you guys would be able to help me out Id really appreciate it. Ill do a write-up when I get it all accomplished..Im sure there will be other guys with std. cabs who will want to use the OME springs.. thanks Derek

Are you sure?!? The only change I am aware of is from '97 to '98 the tacomas went to a longer length spring. It is also my understanding that a few of the '98's had '97 spec frames in the end of the model year transition. I'll have to find that again. I'm assuming that you already have the springs and can see the difference......

Im almost positive ARB told me that the std cabs were supposed to have a 3-4 inch longer leaf spring from 98 to 2000. Well they are about 3-4 inches shorter than the factory leafs. If u stretch one of the ome springs out (by standing on it on the ground) I am still about 2-1/2" short of the eye to eye measurement. If anybody else has any info to add or any ideas that would be great... Derek

Well I kinda just solved my own problem. I called Arb again and Tim was able to give me the dimensions for the extended cab springs. He varified that they were supposed to be longer and that now the new trucks are all the same length. The measurement is 53-1/4. He said hes had several guys do this with the std cabs and not had any problems with just moving the rear hanger. Thanks

Cool! You will love those springs. Just be sure and flip the 2 bolts on the front half of the spring on the driver side so the bolt head is on the inboard side instead of the outside. It WILL catch the lip on the gas tank at full fllex if you don't
