There was someone out there that did a 3.4l V6 swap from a Tacoma, but they had to use the T100 oil pan since the front differential is on the opposite side on the Tacomas from the 88-95.5 pickups/4Runners.

kinda late

Hey.
Found this old post about a supra swap.
Im allmost finished with mine. I also used the 7M-GE engine. I'm planning on retrofiting a turbo also.
I was able to mate the 6L engine to the 3.0 V6 gearbox. The rest of the swap turned out to be quit easy.
If you (still) need any info......

Here are some of the engines you can swap with readily available parts....

Ford 5.0

Buick 3.8L, 4.3L

Chevy 4.3L, 4.6L, 5.2L

Toyota 3.4L, 7M-GE, 7M-GTE, 5M-GE, 6M-GE (5M block with 7M head), 2JZ (supra twin turbo, I don't know of anyone who has done this, but you can put a 7MGTE in a truck, and a 2JZ in an earlier model supra, so why not 2JZ in truck?)

500 hp? umm... 7M-GE won't make 500 hp...if you're gonna turbo it, get a 7M GTE, they are better set up for turbos, dump the CT-26 if you want, but you definitely want the misc. oil coolers for pistons and stuff like that...500 HP out of a turbo supra isn't small beans....that's a lot of modifications... 300 hp is easy though! SuperRunner (the leading supra swap expert hehe) told me the stock 2wd trans and I believe G series (might have been W) 4wd trans can handle up to 300 hp. Seems like 300 hp is the magic number for stock parts. Definitely gonna want a better clutch, though...

You need a 2" body lift to clear the oil pan if you are 4x4 and want to keep it that way. You can also leave out the front driveshaft and not have a bodylift, I believe.

I have the 7M-GE allready in place. No big issues except for the bellhousing. I do have clearance issues with the oil pan and high pinion dif. But I'm gone solve that with longer coils up front. (I allready did a SAS)
I opted not to go for the bolt-on W series gearboxes. They seem way to tiny. I'll stick with the R type (V6) despite the chain driven front drive.

I think he was referring to the 5vze that f2uning had brought up to 500 hp with 20lbs of boost. A mechanic friend of mine has his turbo charged and will be seeing the 500 mark soon. That engine is turning out to be quite the shiznit!

Oh my mistake, I didn't know they made a twin turbo 500 hp 3.4L in the 1990...

what the hell?? Go to www.f2uning.com. Click on street buildups. They have a 1999 3rd gen with 20 some pounds of boost from twin turbos on a 5vze. Last I remember it was up to 500 hp, could be higher now with their direct port no2.

My '90 3.slow only produces 150 at the crank so I dont know what you are talking about.....

My buddy has a '97 3.4L 3rd gen and is currently at around 350hp at the crank on 14lbs of boost. He is a mechanic and I've ridden in his 5speed. That mofo is a fast sob.

Im not sure what you were getting at with the above but I agree about the 7mge not being able to kick out 500 ponies without a great deal of work.....
