On my 94 22re, 140,000 miles. It sounds like rocks in a can. I can here it at all RPM's. It seems to be louder under the engine.

Timing chain? I have no idea. I am going to take it to the shop but would like to have some idea's on what it could be.

If it is at all rpm than it very well could be the timing chain has finally eaten through the guides and it is hitting the timing cover. If the guides are broken, the pan will have to be pulled to get all the pieces out. Don't let it go too long as it can eventually lead to the chain eating through the timing cover as well and then the big mess starts.
