engine knocking after rollover

I rolled, or I should probably say flipped my '04 Tacoma. It was upside down for about an hour. After replacing fluids I tried to start. It shook hard but started. Once running there is a loud knock noise coming from the engine. Its a steady knock knock knock that seems to match the rpms. After starting it, of course, I looked at this forum an realized I probably should have pulled the plugs first. I hope I didn't screw anything up. I then replaced the plugs but the knock is still there. Any ideas what the knock might be?

Are you sure the sound is coming from the engine and not something pushed into the fan? If engine, from the upper or lower part?

I can't see anything wrong with the fan. It doesn't seem to be hitting the housing and nothing seems to be jammed into the blades. The only visible damage is on one side and the cab is crushed in. The hood was completely untouched and everything under seems to be in place. The noise is loud enough its hard to tell where exactly its coming from but it seems to be the upper part.

Also, there was quite a bit of oil on the plugs when I pulled them out, as well as everywhere else under the hood. I put new ones in but didn't exactly clean anything out. Could it be as simple as one of the new plugs not firing?

Up top - valves, down below - piston connecting rods that possibly bent when you fired up the engine with something in the cylinder (oil/water).

You bent a rod by not pulling the spark plugs and clearing the cylinders after the roll. You're looking at a full tear down or just a replacement motor.
