This is the way I like to keep it and I spend allot of time in the mud and slop.
Can't even see the engine some days,Lol. This is what it looks like after pressure washing and using Mean green and rinsing with pressure hose. Then I use a tire shine on the hoses and plastic parts. Mike

x153 for Simple Green. If your engine is dirty, some elbow grease and simple green will take care of it. After that, I just spray some simple green, then just rinse after a minute or two at every car wash. Keeps it clean. BTW, I don't pressure wash---just low-flow water from the hose.

As far as mud, soak it with water. I've heard of people putting one of those sprinklers that attach to the end of a hose under their truck, and even the hard-caked mud will just fall off after 20-30 minutes.

Beartracker, do you cover the alternator or anything else with plastic when using the pressure washer?

No, I don't cover anything and have never and I repeat, never had a thing go wrong due to pressure washing the engine and bay area. I don't soak any parts that don't need it but I don't baby anything either. From my car wash to home is about 5 miles and by the time I get home it's as dry as can be anyway. Never had the engine miss a beat after washing either. Mike

+1 for Greased Lightning. Seems to work better then SimpleGreen. I make it a point to never spray water on electrical connections...just my $.02
